                 THE ACORN

                 JANUARY 2018

Hello Everyone, Welcome back! The park is filling up with familiar faces & some new ones every day, and we look forward to another great winter.  I hope everyone has had a Happy Holiday.     Thank You, Ron Zobel-----------Park Manager

A Reminder to all OWNERS to let the office know when you are back in the Park and when you leave for the season.  This helps with our mail outs going to the correct address and your receiving it on time.   If you are a RENTER, you MUST register at the office upon arrival.  Even if you are a returning renter you will need to fill out the registration form and present your driver’s license each year.   Thank You, ----Kathy

This year again we will play at Oak Leaf Golf Course on Monday’s starting January 8th, 2018, once a week around noon (12:00pm) same time as last year, with tee times to follow. The cost will be $17.00 plus tax.  I invite all A.O. golfing ladies to join our fun golf league, as we play to enjoy the game as well as each other.  Please invite your friends to join in and as we usually go out after our golf game to a restaurant in town. All suggestions are welcome.  For more information:  Contact Ginette Charlebois 5243 SE 67thAvenue or by messenger or Facebook

The meet and greet Ice Cream Social will take place in the Clubhouse on Sunday January 14th at 2:00pm.  Come early to get a good seat and meet some of your neighbors at Ancient Oaks.  Buy your tickets in advance so we have an idea how many are coming.  Tickets are $1.00 more if bought at the door.

Thirty ladies enjoyed lunch at Conchy Joe's in Jensen Beach last month.  I will be working on finding a place to eat on January 17th in the next couple of days.  Please watch the bulletin board for the sign-up sheet after January 1st.---Jol

The first get-together for Needles & Threads will be on Friday, January 5th at 11:00am in the Clubhouse.  Anyone that is interested in sewing, quilting, embroidery or any type of needle work is welcome especially newcomers to the park.  Please bring any projects you have, to share with this friendly group, so we can make this season creative and fun. -----Sue Smith.

The One blood bloodmobile will be in our clubhouse parking lot on Thursday, January 18 from 10:30 to 3:30.  If you have a problem with low iron, I have a few suggestions.  Eat Original Total cereal, clams, oysters, raisins, beets, red meat, chicken livers, etc.  Also, 1 week before donating, stop taking calcium and drinking tea - hot or cold. Vitamin C or citrus juice helps the body absorb iron.  Remember to eat before you donate and drink plenty of fluids.  I will post other information at least a week before the bus is here.   38% of the population can donate blood; but, only 10% do.  one blood needs 2,500 donations daily to meets the needs of patients in our hospitals.  Please donate & save 3 lives!!Jol Creech

The poker games will be held on Thursday January 11th, and Thursday January 25th.  Games will start at 6pm in the Clubhouse.  Please be on time so as not to delay the start.

CRIBBAGE play begins on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at the clubhouse. Sign-in begins at 6:10, play at 6:30. $1.00 ante to play, all paid out in prizes. We play partners, even number of players only, so sign in early. It is not necessary to bring your own partner. ----Pat White.

The Ancient Oaks website has a new look; however, the web address has remained the same.  The new site allows for a clearer understanding of properties for sale and for rent.  The categories are more clearly defined and in addition there is a separate column which allows for a brief description of properties.   Owners may submit up to 25 characters such as 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, avail May-Dec etc. not to exceed 25 characters per listing. Additions may be sent to Dennis Bailey:  Please take a moment and check out our new and improved look at

Here are some things that people have asked to be put in the Acorn for everyone to read and understand.     #1 The storage area is not a dog walk, people who pay to store their things back there don’t want to be stepping in dog waste.  #2 When listening to your music while driving around the park or relaxing at the pool, please be considerate of others who don’t want to listen to your music, use ear buds or headphones.  #3 Please don’t discard your cigarette butts while walking or out of your vehicles onto our streets.  #4 After a rain storm it isn’t funny for people to speed down our streets to see how far they can make their waves go up people’s driveway’s.  There are people who store things under their houses and by you doing this, you can ruin what they have stored there.

The Saturday morning breakfasts have already started so if you didn’t know about it come on down and enjoy a great breakfast prepared by our own world renowned chefs.

The Thursday lunches will start on Thursday January 4th.  11:15am to 12:45pm
